Major Lowell Paul Mattingly, of Wichita, formerly of South Haven, retired United States Air Force pilot, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, at the age of 60 after a long battle with cancer.


Major Lowell Paul Mattingly, of Wichita, formerly of South Haven, retired United States Air Force pilot, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, at the age of 60 after a long battle with cancer.
    Lowell was born the son of Milford Lee Mattingly and Shirley Yvonne (Bell) Mattingly on Thursday, Dec. 23, 1948 in Wichita. His father precedes him in death.
    Lowell graduated from South Haven High School in 1966 and from the
University of Kansas in 1970.
    Survivors include his daughter, Lara  Elizabeth Mattingly of Flower Mound, Texas, son, Andrew Paul Mattingly of Flower Mound, Texas, mother, Shirley Mattingly Messenger of South Haven, sisters, Cheryl
Hinckley-Lewellan and husband Charlie of Temple, Texas, Beth Schmidt and her husband Les of Olpe, Kan., Yvonne Mattingly of Houston, Texas, Roberta
Byers and her husband Dale of South Haven, Crystal Mattingly of
Wellington, Priscilla Rinehart and her husband Greg of Winfield, Pamela Mattingly of San Antonio, Texas, brother, Bill Mattingly of Caldwell, and an uncle, Laird Bell of South Haven.
    The family will receive and greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009 with memorial services at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Day Funeral Home.
    Interment and full military honors will be 10 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven.
  A memorial has been established in his name and loving memory with Harry
