    James “Jim” Palmer, 85, of Wellington died Wednesday,?March 25, 2009 in Amarillo,?Texas.
    He was born on May 27, 1923 in Wellington.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday,?March 28, 2009 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Amarillo, Texas with Robert Whipple officiating. Burial and interment will be at Llano Cemetery.
    Jim was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946. He married Frances Keithline on July 25, 1947. He has lived in Amarillo since 1961 where he worked at Plains Chevrolet as a Salesman. After he retired in 1985 he enjoyed spending  time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a classic car enthusiast and was a long time member of the Amarillo Rifle and Gun Association, the Texas Rifle Association and the National Rifle Association. The family would like to send a special “thank you” to ALL the very good staff at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home where Jim was a resident for the last 18 months.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
    Survivors include: spouse Frances Palmer; son David A. Palmer and his wife Beverly of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Katheryn Pressley of Plainview,?Texas, Nancy Whipple and husband Robert of Carrollton, Texas, Alic Cobb and husband George of Amarillo, Texas, Anne Frederiksen and husband Lanny of Amarillo, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
    Memorials have been established with the Downtown Women’s Center 409 S. Monroe Amarillo, TS 79101, Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Road Amarillo, TX 79124 or favorite charity.
