Elizabeth Scott Crites passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in her home at Victoria Falls in Andover, KS. Graveside service will be held at the Argonia (KS) Cemetery, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Born May 11, 1915, Beth was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena Scott of Argonia. She and her 6 siblings grew up on a farm 2 ½ miles north of Argonia. After graduation from Argonia High School she attended Venus Academy of Beauty in Wichita. On April 22, 1934, she married Dale L. Crites. They had 3 children, Larry (Marilyn) of Wichita, Sara Hirsch (William) of Breckenridge, Co. and Curtis Lee Crites, who died at birth. Beth and Dale moved to Great Bend, KS about 1941, where Dale was a merchant in the Great Bend and Hoisington area until he passed in 1982. Beth was a homemaker and Girl Scout leader, taking Troop No. 8 from its inception as Brownies until all the girls had graduated from High School as Senior Scouts. She was active in the Kanza council of Girl Scouts, she and Dale were active members of the Eagles and Elks in Great Bend and Beth served as President of the Eagles Auxiliary. In 1990 Beth moved back to Argonia to be near her brothers and sisters. She was an active member of the North Side Community Club in Argonia, which was started by her mother, and she served a term as President. Beth also loved compiling the genealogy of her family, taking long walks along the river, fishing and visiting with her family.
Beth is survived by a loving host of family members including her son Larry (Marilyn), daughter Sara Hirsch (William), grandchildren Scott Crites (Carol) of Houston, TX, Gretchen Crites Medjkane (Sami) of Flower Mound, TX, Heidi Crites Kadison (Avery) of Austin, TX, Jonathon Row (Aya) of Los Angeles, CA, Stephanie Row Smith (Brian) of Breckenridge, CO, and Christopher Row (Michele) of Tarzana, CA, 9 great grandchildren, and 5 nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, 4 sisters and all her nephews. Great grandchildren are: Amruss and Giselle Medjkane, Elise and Benny Kadison, Wyatt, Alyssa, and Jayden Row and Connor and Sage Smith.
