Donald "Don" Gene Jenkins, Sr., 71, of Arkansas City, died Sunday (June 10, 2012) at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday (June 15, 2012) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Cremation has been effected.
Don was born January 27, 1941, in Prague, Oklahoma, to Pat and Marie (Jackson) Jenkins. He was reared and educated in South Haven and Arkansas City. He married Barbara Doze on February 20, 1958, in Sedan, Kansas. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. Don has worked all of his life in the oil fields. He has owned and operated several oil companies including Jenkins and Broyles Oil Company, Jenkins and Sons, and Don Jenkins Oil Company. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Mule Deer Foundation. Don was an avid elk and deer hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; a daughter Tammy and her husband David Bain; two sons Donnie Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Rita Jenkins, Chad and his wife Gustava Jenkins all of Arkansas City; brother Ronnie and his wife Anita Jenkins of Arkansas City; brother-in-law Kent and Vicki Doze; grandchildren Chasity, Nikki, Josh, Clayton, Courtney, Tara and Luke; great grandchildren Vandal "Bub", Draklyn, Malachi, Jaden, Dylan, Presli and Oaklee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cindy Phillips and granddaughter Mindy Jenkins.
