Joseph "Earl" Humes, 71, of Wellington, Kansas, passed this life on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri following a brief illness.
He was born the son of Claude and Juanita (Shepler) Humes on Monday, October 6, 1941 in Alva, Oklahoma.
Earl was known as a hard working man. He was employed in the oil field for many years with Johnson Bros. Earl later retired from Oxwell Inc. He was also a dedicated family man that will be missed by his loving family.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica May of Wellington, Kansas, brother, Samuel Humes of West Moreland, Kansas, brother, Floyd Humes and his wife Linda of Lamar, Missouri, 3 granddaughters: Amber, Hollie and Makenna May of Wellington, Kansas, 2 nephews: Dean Watkins and Brad Humes and a niece, Krista White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Vanessa Humes; sisters, Nora Watkins and Lillian Cooley, brother, Claude Humes, Jr. and nephew, Don Watkins, Jr.
Memorial services for Earl will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 1219 North Plum, Wellington, Kansas.
