Lana J. (Strait) Potter, 64 of 134 S. Cranmer, Conway Springs, KS, passed to her next life Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her residence.
Lana was born June 25, 1948 at Wellington, Kansas to Wayne Zera Strait and Ethel Gladys Wise Strait. She grew up in Conway Springs and attended the local public schools. She graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1966 and later from William Newton School of Nursing, Winfield, KS in 1969.
Lana was united in marriage to Steven Earl Potter on April 6, 1968 at Conway Springs, KS. They made their first home in Winfield before moving to Conway Springs where they raised their family at 134 S. Cranmer.
Lana worked as a nurse at Wellington Hospital and later became the Assistant Director of Nursing at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington. Lana also served many in the Conway Springs community as a nurse during her off-hours. Lana was a Nursing Supervisor at DaVita in Wichita for the last 10 years. She served many people during her 43 year nursing career.
Lana was a member of the First Baptist Church, Conway Springs, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Karen Sue Strait.
She is survived by her husband Steven Potter of the home, one daughter Stephanie Frankiewicz and her husband Leon of Wichita, KS; one son Kent Potter and his wife Angela of Clearwater, KS; four granddaughters: Heidi Potter, Kelbi Carter, Lauren and Kaelyn Potter; two step-grandsons: Sean and Troy Frankiewicz; her twin brother Algie Strait of Clearwater, KS and one sister Sandra Wise and husband Jim of Conway Springs, KS.
Lana loved trips to the lake with her family and many friends. She enjoyed travel and family time. She will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 from the First Baptist Church, Conway Springs with Pastor John Warrick officiating. Interment will be in Conway Springs Cemetery.
