The WHS boys are 3-5, girls are 5-3

Crusaders win one after dropping five in a row
The Wellington High School boys basketball team improved to 3-5 on the season after a big, nine-point road win against Circle High School on Jan. 8.

The Crusaders won 67-58 in Towanda. Four of the five scorers for WHS, had point totals in the double digits, the other was one point away from being in the double digits.

Wellington will play at home against the Winfield High School Vikings on Jan. 11, varsity tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., after the girls game.

Wellington wins two in a row
The Lady-Crusaders basketball team has now won two games in a row, on Jan. 8 the team traveled to Towanda and beat Circle High School 49-40 behind a big offensive performance from a senior leader.

Kailey Jenkins, senior, scored 20 points in the contest on Tuesday. She was the only Lady-Crusader to score in the double-digits.

Circle was up by six on Wellington after the first quarter, but then WHS found its rhythm offensively, outscoring CHS 27-15 in the second. It was 30-24 at the start of the third, Wellington had the lead and never looked back. They added seven more in the third, and survived a late push by Circle, who outscored WHS 14-12 in the fourth.

Up next for WHS is Winfield at home on Jan. 11, tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
