Dolores May Rosson, 83, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away on January 15, 2013 at St. Francis Via Christi Health in Wichita, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 19th, at Hillside Baptist Church in Wellington. The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 18 at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Alva Municipal Cemetery in Alva, Ok. Memorials have been established in Ms. Rosson's name for Hillside Baptist Church and Sumner Regional Medical Cancer Center in Wellington, Kansas. Dolores was born on August 16, 1929 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to James M. and Mabel O. (Springer) Dupy. She was educated in the Waynoka, Oklahoma area. On July 18, 1944 she was united in marriage to John O. Rosson, Jr. in Wichita, Kansas. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. John was a with the Santa Fe Railroad and the couple lived in many places such as Kiowa, KS Alva, OK and Wellington while with the railroad. In the 1970's, she worked for Nichols Electric of Wellington. In the 1980's the couple moved to Kaw City, OK, where they enjoyed the lake and all the activities. She worked the summer season at a local bait shop and grocery. She then later worked in the jewelry department at KMart in Ponca City, OK. After retirement, she and John enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and boating. Her husband John passed away in 2004 and she continued to live at Kaw City until her health declined. She moved to Wellington in 2006 to be close to her family.
Dolores was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church of Wellington for over 40 years. She was one of the members that planted this church. She was also involved in several other churches being planted in the communities in which she lived.
Surviving to honor her memory are her daughter; Candiss Costello and husband Joe of Oxford, KS, her sister; Dorothy Jones and husband Casey of Whitesboro, TX, her grandchildren; Joe Costello and wife Michelle of Bellaire, KS, Sherry Hills and husband Chris of Wellington, KS and Dustin Costello and wife Ebony of Wichita, KS;her 12 great-grandchildren; Joshua, Nissi, Sophia, Noah, Christina, Elijah, Tiffany, Kyle, Brianna, Cody, Kira and Ashton and 1 great-great granddaughter; Tenley.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband are daughter, Sherideth; her sisters, Ruth and Ruby and one brother, John.
