  • Obituary: Melva Jean “Tudy” Sneed

  • Melva Jean "Tudy" Sneed died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.
    Melva was born on December 23, 1931 in Wellington, KS, the daughter of Lee Roy and Nora (Burns) McEachern.
    She was a member of the St. Anthony / St. Rose Alter Society and the Sumner County Democratic party and a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.
    Melva was married to Wayne Earl Sneed on December 27, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1990.
    Survivors include one daughter, Angie McClure and her husband Darren of Lawrence, KS; four sons, Bill Sneed and his wife Diane of Topeka, KS, David Sneed of Topeka, KS, Jeff Sneed and his wife Neana of Wellington, KS, Mark Sneed and his wife Karen of Lenexa, KS; sister-in-law, Geraldine McEachern; brother-in-law, Galen Lamb; nine grandchildren, Sarah and Tanner Sneed, Arielle Horsch and Olivia Sneed, Jackson and Rigby McClure, Annie, Mitch and Monica Sneed; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, including her twin brother; and four sisters.
    The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Anthony / St. Rose Catholic Church, 210 North B Street, Wellington, KS.
    Mass of Christian will immediately follow the Rosary at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 in St. Anthony / St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, KS.
    In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in her name to the Mission Thrift Shop or the St. Anthony / St. Rose Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
