Squirrel causes loss of electricity

The entire town of Wellington was powerless for over 10 minutes on Jan. 17.

According to officials at the City of Wellington, the electrical power outage was due to a squirrel caught in the main sub-station.

"We have taken measures to attempt to prevent such animals in causing these outages, but cannot prevent this from occurring entirely," said City Manager, Gus Collins via e-mail.

Power was out for just over 13 minutes on Thursday.
