Between the beginning and the end of the homecoming game against Mulvane onf Feb. 1, the Lady-Crusaders maintained the lead but were unable to get their tenth win of the season.
Wellington lost by three after seeing the Lady-Wildcats drop a big 16 points in the final quarter.
Very early in the contest, WHS was trailing but then went on to dominate the first half, building up to a 19-11 lead at the break. The Lady-Crusaders left a lot of points at the free-throw line on Friday night as well.
The team went five for 14, a difference of nine points that could have come in handy down the stretch as Mulvane outscored Wellington in each quarter of the second half.
Mulvane's Destynee Donaldson, senior, lead all scorers in the game with 15, close behind was teammate Aubree Burkhart, junior, with 13. Wellington's leading scorer was Carlie McComb, junior, with 10.

    Boys lose to Mulvane
There were some big offensive performances in the boys game when Mulvane visited Wellington on Feb. 1. Unfortunately for the home team, the Wildcats' performance was bigger.
For Wellington, a monster game was put together by Brian Peck, senior, who put up 18 points; Tyler Miles, senior had 17 and neither number was the leading scorer for the game. That title went to Mulvane's Jarrett Price, senior, who bucketed 19 points to spoil Wellington's homecoming.
The Crusaders were keeping it within arms reach early on, down by three after the first quarter, that number would grow to seven at halftime. Wellington had no answer for the inside game, and sent the Wildcats to the free-throw line several times where the team went 19 for 25.
Wellington outscored Mulvane in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit that had built up throughout the game.
