Conway Springs - Eldon W. Kimple, 76, formerly of Conway Springs and Wellington, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Sedgwick Healthcare Center, Sedgwick, KS.
He was born December 15, 1936 at Conway Springs, Kansas to Frank Albert Kimple and Edna Winifred (Harrison) Kimple. Eldon grew up in Conway Springs and attended Conway Springs public schools. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1955.
Eldon was united in marriage to Jean Ann Roths on August 3, 1957 at Wichita, Kansas. They made their first home in Wichita before moving to Conway Springs in the early 60's to raise their family of four children.
Eldon was self-employed most of his life and engaged in numerous types of work including farming, house painting, and service station operator. He operated a local teen center in Conway Springs in the 1970's. He was a caring and devoted member of AA since 1976. He spent many years as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Don Kimple, one sister Wanda Dickson, and one grandson Jeffrey.
Eldon is survived by his children: David Kimple and wife Jill, Doug Kimple and wife Jill, Deanna Gooch and husband Dale, Darla Riddle and husband Bill, and brother Stanley Kimple all of Wichita, KS; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from the United Methodist Church, Conway Springs, Kansas with the Rev. Michael W. Roberts officiating. Interment was in Conway Springs Cemetery, Conway Springs, Kansas. Arrangements were by Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs, Kansas.
