Isabel "Mickey" Monson, 83, of Wellington, Kansas, passed on to the Lord Monday, March 11, 2013 at in Wichita, KS.
Celebration of Her Life will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wellington. Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the St. John's Lutheran Church and may be left with the funeral home. Isabel was born August 17, 1929 the daughter of J.M. and Lula (Dilley) Bidwell in New London, Minnesota, one of 10 children. Mickey worked at a café and at Plessy Welco in Wellington for several years. After retiring she volunteered with Alateen, Hospice and for the Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was an avid member of TOPS, KOPS and the Red Hat Ladies, where she made many friends. Mickey was a board member at St. John's Lutheran Church, she loved her church.
She is survived by her son, Ron Monson and his wife Rita of Wellington, KS, daughter, Beverly Edwards and her husband Mark of Ponca City, OK; 5 grandchildren, Curtis, Sammy and Angela Edwards all of Denver, CO, Dan and his wife Irene and Ronda and her husband Jeff all of Wellington, KS; 9 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Violet, Evangeline and Celia all of Minnesota.
Mickey is preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings.
