Vera Maxine Baker, of Mayfield, Kansas
Vera Maxine Baker, of Mayfield, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Spring View Manor in Conway Springs, Kansas at the age of 80.
Vera was born the daughter of Loyal D. and Leona D. (Blunk) Gaskill on Thursday, September 8, 1932 in Riverdale, Kansas.
On September 18, 1950, Vera and John Baker were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
She loved her family and loved spending any time she could with them. Survivors include her husband, John Baker of Mayfield, Kansas; sons, Johnny Wayne Baker and his wife Gayla of Perth, Kansas, Jerry Dean Baker and his wife Marla of Topeka, Kansas; daughters, Judy Maxine Tilson and her husband Jon of Norwich, Kansas, Joyce Ann Metheny and her husband Jeff of Wichita, Kansas, Jamie Sue Metzen and her husband Steve of Mayfield, Kansas, Jean Marie Thompson and her husband Jay of Argonia, Kansas, Jane Louise Chitwood and her husband Jim of Conway Springs, Kansas, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lee King and her husband Jimmy of Wellington, Kansas, Ada Marie Baker of Wellington, Kansas, Naomi Ruth Crossley and her husband Gayln of Oakley, Kansas and a brother, Loyal Wayne "Pete" Gaskill of Wellington, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Emma Fern Hetrick and Betty Jean Gressel.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Vera will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the First Christian Church, 123 W 9th Street, Wellington, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Osborne Cemetery, Mayfield, Kansas.
Memorials have been established in her loving memory with the Spring View Manor (Activity Fund) or Mayfield Community Building. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
