Local officers were involved in a pursuit early Saturday morning.

Local law enforcement officers were involved in a high speed chase on Saturday, March 23, the ordeal ended with the arrest of a 27-year-old Wellington man.

Early Saturday morning, around 1:30 a.m. Wellington officers were dispatched to an unknown disturbance in the 600 block of North F St.

"As officers arrived, they noticed a Blue Ford mustang departing the area at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued this vehicle west on 12th street where it failed to negotiate the intersection at Poplar Street striking the westside curbing," states a press release from the Wellington Police Department. "Officers observed an adult male exit the vehicle and run from the scene." Eventually, authorities learned that the car was stolen out of Wichita, Kan. The suspect, Zane McHenry, 27, of Wellington was located and taken into custody without incident.

He was booked into the Sumner County Jail with charges of Possesion of Stolen Property, Flee and/or Attempt to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Suspended. McHenry's bond was set at 10,000 dollars.
