One track meet is in the books this season, and between the Wellington girls and boys teams, 13 gold medals were won in Clearwater on March 28.
A couple of Crusaders topped the standings in multiple events. Megan Campbell, senior, placed first in the girls 100M and 200M Dash with times of 12.56, and 26.23 respectively. Colin Reichenberger, sophomore, ran a 15.92 in the boys 110M Hurdles, and a 44.56 in the 300M Hurdles, good enough for double golds.
The WHS relay teams also had a strong showing, Crusader teams won the 4x100M, and 4x400M on the girls side and boys side.
Senior, Tyler Clift's time of 24.41 in the 200M Dash was the fastest in the event last week. Austin Pfalzgraf, sophomore, placed first in the one mile, running a 5:12:7.
Over in the field events, Justin Bruns, senior, won the boys Pole Vault with a jump of 12'. Micah Rodgers, junior, finished first in girls Triple Jump with a distance of 32', 4.5''. Holly Wright, junior, lead a trio of WHS high jumpers who sept the top three spots in the event. Wright's first place jump was 5'2'', Avery Lewellen, junior, placed second, with Meghan Gilkey, senior, in third. Both cleared 4'10" mark.
Next up for WHS is a meet at Chaparral High School on Friday, April 5. From there it's the KT Woodman meet at Wichita State University on April 11 and 12, followed by the Caldwell meet in Wellington on April 16.
