Virgle Stamper, 75, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home in Wellington, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wellington. Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the First Free Will Baptist Church and may be left with the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home. Virgle was born the son of Isaac and Ruth (Fox) Stamper on July 19, 1937 in Anson, Kansas. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1955 and joined the United States Navy. Virgle was united in marriage to Fern Miller on May 22, 1960 in Winfield, KS. He worked for the Rusk brothers farming, for Concord building trailers, Russ industries, and continued to farm and work on auto transmissions. He enjoyed wresting and watching sports. Virgle would visit with his friends at Wal-Mart and Braums, he enjoyed people, and would visit his loving wife, Fern, at the nursing home every day. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Fern, children, Joanne Watson and her husband Bob of Salina, KS, Rene Johnson and her husband John of Duedin, FL, Sony Worthington of Holt Summit, MO, Cynthia Woods and her husband Sherman of Medicine Lodge, KS and Eugene Parrish and his wife Tammy of Wellington, KS; and 10 grandchildren.
Virgle is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Black.
