Dennis E. Nail, age 69, of Wellington, KS
Dennis E. Nail, age 69, of Wellington, KS, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Sumner Care Center in Wellington, KS. He was a former President of Panhandle Federal Credit Union.
Dennis was born on October 18, 1943 in Wichita, KS to Glenn C. Nail and Elsie Jane (Hill) Nail. He was raised in Wellington and graduated with the WHS Class of 1961. He then attended Emporia State and received a degree in Business Administration in 1965.
Dennis married Barbara J. Ruzick on December 28, 1967 in Pierre, SD.
Dennis' employment with financial institutions began in 1969 as a loan officer at Central State Bank in Hutchinson, KS. In 1971 he moved to Tucson, AZ to work in the real estate department of the Arizona Bank. In 1974 he became a branch manager of the Tucson Teachers Federal Credit Union. He then moved back to Kansas and began as Vice President of Golden Plains Credit Union in Garden City, KS. In 1987 he moved back to Wellington and became President of Panhandle Federal Credit Union. Dennis was instrumental in the growing success of the credit union. He retired in 2005.
Dennis served as President of the Southwest Chapter of Kansas Credit Union for three years and was a Scoutmaster and District Commissioner for the Boys Scouts from 1993 – 2004.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Terry Nail.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Nail of Santa Fe, NM; one son, Chris Nail of Santa Fe, NM; one sister, Glenda Nail of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law, Vera Nail of Alamo, TX; brother-in-law, Sam Ruzick and his wife Delores of Millbrook, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at the Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, KS.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Sumner County Care Center in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
