The Lady-Crusaders are 6-2 this season.
Two undefeated teams took the field at Worden Park on April 25, for the visiting team, Augusta, their record remained perfect at the end of the night.
The Lady-Crusader's sky-high start to the season was brought back down to earth a bit by the Lady-Orioles. To start the double-header on Thursday, game one was as good as it gets.
Augusta grabbed one run in the top of the first, WHS chased that one run for nearly the entire game. The two teams went scoreless for the next five innings.
Wellington got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Ryleigh Buck, freshman, produced an RBI double.
The Lady-Orioles touched the plate in the top of the seventh, again going up by a point, 2-1. Wellington gave it a valiant effort, but couldn't overcome Augusta for their first loss of the season.
Their second loss of the season came in game two. Augusta was amped up after their game one win and it showed.
Augusta shut-out the Lady-Crusaders, in route to a nine-run victory. Wellington's lone hit during the second half of the double header was a base hit from Kailey Jenkins, senior, who is credited with the loss, her first of the year. Shanlyn Hefley, senior, also recorded her first loss of the season on Thursday, in game one. Each pitcher is 3-1. The Lady-Orioles' winning throwers were Eberhart and Hays. Augusta is now 14-0, Wellington is 6-2.
