  • Today is forecast to be a gorgeous day, with sunny skies and high temps close to 90 degrees.
    We will have some typical Kansas winds to deal with – expect sustained south/southwest winds up to 20 mph with gusts close to 30 mph by mid-afternoon. Gusty winds and warm weather will continue on Tuesday.  
    By Wednesday, however, a cold front is predicted to slide into the region, which will bring a temporary end to our balmy temps. Additionally, it will escort in our next chance for measurable precipitation. On Tuesday, prior to its arrival in South Central Kansas, strong-to-severe thunderstorms are expected to erupt along the front.
    However, that activity is currently on track to stay northwest of the Turnpike. Showers and thunderstorms will then be possible in our area throughout the day on Wednesday; currently forecasters have mixed views on the chances for any storms to become severe. NWS Wichita suggests some strong-to-marginally severe chances southeast of the Turnpike on Wednesday, but the Storm Prediction Center has not identified any risk area yet for that day…
