The Crusaders are 3-7
The Wellington High School baseball team split their third consecutive double-header on Tuesday night. On the road, facing Wichita Collegiate Schools, the Dukes won game one with the mercy rule.
Behind the arm of Trevor Nance, sophomore, the Crusaders pick up their third win of the season. Nance has two of those three, he is 2-0 on the season; both wins have been shut-outs (the other was game two vs. Winfield on April 16), with a combined five hits allowed between the two.
The offense was also clicking at WCS on April 30. Wellington scored 10 runs through six innings, causing no need for a seventh with the run-rule. Noah Wolff, senior, sent one over the fence in game one as well.

An error filled, extrapinning game two against Wichita Collegiate spelled trouble for WHS. The bats were still swinging effectively for Wellington, as the team tallied 10 hits, with seven runs. Collegiate had only three hits, but crossed the plate eight times.
The ball game was tied after the top of the third, the Spartans scored five runs in the bottom of that inning. Scoring four runs of their own in the top of the fourth, Wellington answered. They would tie the game in the top of the sixth, it would stay that way until the bottom of the eighth. That's when WCS scored a runner to end the game.
