The Lady-Crusaders softball team played two games against two different teams on April 30. They came away with a split, beating Buhler High School at Clearwater before losing to the home team in game two.
Wellington really lit up BHS, scoring nine runs on 13 hits. Five players had multiple hits. Seniors Shanlyn Hefley, and Kailey Jenkins; juniors Shelby Hamel and Carlie McComb, and Ryleigh Buck, Freshman. Jenkins scored one run and had four RBI, Hefley scored three runs with an RBI. Buck and Jenkins each doubled in game one.
Hefley was the winning pitcher, improving her season record to 4-1.

There were a lot fewer hits in the game verses Clearwater. Each team combined for just five knocks, CHS had three, and scored five runs for the two-run victory.
Wellington had a brief one-run lead after the top of the third but in that same inning, Clearwater scored three runs, then two in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady-Crusaders crossed the plate twice in the top of the sixth, but it wasn't enough.
The Lady-Crusaders two hits belonged to Hefley and Jenkins, they each scored a run along with Buck. Jenkins picks up her second loss from the pitching circle, she is 3-2 on the season.
