WELLINGTON, Kan. – Everett W. Greeno, of Wellington, Kansas, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at his residence at the age of 83.
Everett was born the son of and Harry J. and Pearl (Beatty) Greeno on Wednesday, September 18, 1929 in Wellington, Kansas.
In 1950, he and Roberta "Birdie" Knowles were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before her death in 1997. Everett was blessed to find love again and on June 3, 2006, Everett and Darnell Horton were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas. Together they celebrated nearly 7 years of marriage.
Following his graduation, Everett enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served for 15 years and was honorably discharged in 1967. He was employed for many years in the aircraft industry. Everett was a firefighter for Boeing Aircraft and later retired from BAE as the night shift supervisor in 1994. Outside of work, he belonged to the BPOE #1167 where he served as Exalted Ruler from 1977-1978. Everett also belonged to the First Christian Church in Wellington, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Darnell Greeno of Wellington, Kansas, sons: Everett Jay Greeno of Wichita, Kansas, Scott B. Greeno of Topeka, Kansas, daughter, April D. Greeno of Wellington, Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, 1 great-grandson and his sister, Joane Dillard of Wellington, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Birdie Greeno, brother, Bob Greeno and great-granddaughter, Kiersten Janelle.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
Memorial services for Everett will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in First Christian Church, Wellington, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington, Kansas.
A memorial has been established in his loving memory to the Boy Scouts - Troop #304, Wellington, Kansas. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
