Authorities are still searching for who took the vehicle.
A sheriff's vehicle was was stolen in Belle Plaine on Saturday night.
Just before 10 p.m. on May 4, Sumner County Sheriff's deputies were called to assist the Derby Police Department in locating a missing person with a mental illness, states a press release from the sheriff's department.
Deputies located the person at 659 N. Woodlawn in Sumner County, then transported her person to the Belle Plaine Police Department to meet with family members.
"A short time later the family member advised that they were having problems with the subject refusing to go to the hospital," the press release continues. "Deputies went outside to contact the subject and found that the subject had taken a 2010 Sheriff Tahoe without permission." The vehicle was recovered without damage at 15th and A street in Wellington.
The investigation into the situation continues.
"The suspect has not been located at this time," the sheriff's department said.
