It was a close one all the way through the sixth in game one against Valley Center on Monday at Worden Park. Wellington would take the lead in that inning, but surrendered five big runs in the top of the seventh that they were unable to answer.
The Lady-Crusaders lost 6-3 to open the triangular match-up.
After El Dorado played V.C., it was time for WHS to take on El Dorado.
Wellington jumped out to a 6-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth. That's when El Dorado came to life. They crossed home-plate seven times to take the lead from the home team.
The ladies in red would have none of it, though, as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain control of the contest with a 9-7 lead. That's who the scoreboard would stay. Wellington picks up the win against the AVCTL opponent.
Wellington's Shanlyn Hefely, senior, lost the first game from the pitching circle, and won the second game. She had a pretty good outting from the plate as well. She scored one run in game one, then went 3/4 with a run and 4 RBI in game two.
