Authorities took two Wichita residents into custody on May 6 after they allegedly stole $2,300 worth of electronics from Wal-Mart.

A robbery attempt was almost successful on Monday at Wellington's Wal-Mart, 2022 E. 16th.

"Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wellington Officers responded to a report from Wellington Walmart that several unknown subjects had just left the store with a cart full of electronic equipment without paying," reads a press release from the Wellington Police Department.

Officiers arrived at the location, and were told three adult females and one adult male had left the parking lot in two vehicles, described as a red Dodge passenger car, and a dark Dodge truck.

Items that were stolen ranged from televisions, to laptop computers, all valued at 2,300 dollars.

"Kansas Turnpike authorities were notified and shortly thereafter a Highway Patrol Trooper stopped the Dodge truck at exit 42," the press release continues. "The suspected stolen property was located in the bed of the truck." Two people were taken into custody without incident.

The Wellington police notes from Monday indicate Keiferro Jawan Hughes, 24-year-old man from Wichita and Rayshon Tashwia Hughes, 27-year-old female from Wichita were both arrested for robbery on May 6.

The official charges are pending as both wait in the Sumner County Jail with a 50,000 dollar bond.
