  • Since starting 6-0 through their first three double-headers of the season, the Lady-Crusader softball team has gone 3-7 after being swept for the second time all year on Tuesday.
Wellington was in Circle making up a double that was originally scheduled for April 22.
Game one went all the way to the end, as a lot of WHS softball games have lately. Wellington had a 5-2 lead after the third inning. Circle tied it up in the bottom of the fourth with three runs.
The Lady-Crusaders snagged a run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't enough insurance as CHS snagged two.
Wellington's Ashley Collins, senior, had a good day on Tuesday at the plate. She went 3/3, had two RBI and a triple. Ryleigh Buck, freshmen, also had a good day, batting 2/2 – hitting a double and a triple, and scoring to runs.
Game two started out very similarly. Wellington scored three runs in the second, just as the did in game one, but past that a lot was different.
CHS put together a 10 run, fourth inning, giving them a 10-3 advantage. Wellington was only able to answer six of those runs, CHS added one more, all coming in the fifth inning. The score would stand a 11-9 in favor of Circle.
Wellington is now 9-7 on the season.
The Lady-Crusaders will be playing the in Independence Regional, they are the fourth ranked team. Wellington will open the tournament against the five-seed, Rose Hill in Clearwater on Monday, May 13 at 5:45 p.m.
