Find out how the Wellington native did.
Wellington native, Myles Miller, red-shirt freshman at Newman University, competed in the NCAA Div. II Men's Golf Regional contest in DuPont, Was. this week. He finished tied for 70th place.
Miller shot an opening round of 67, putting him in the discussion for the lead at five under after day one. He birdied six holes, three, five, 10, 11, 16 and 17; with only a single bogey all day, coming on 12.
In round two, Miller got off to a shaky start on the front nine. He double-bogeyed three and four, and shot a bogey on five. The Jet would bogey three more holes on the back nine for a six over on the day, and a plus-one for the tournament.
The barrage of bogeys continued in the third round. Six holes on the front nine were bogey, one of those was for double-bogey. He shot six over on the first half of the course, but followed it up with a solid back nine, where he was one over for a plus-seven on the day, brining his three round total to eight over par.
Kyle Schrader, of Western Washington University, won the regional with a score of 10 under par. He shot 70 in each of the first two rounds, and brought it home with a 66 in the round three.
