Lady-Crusaders strike gold half-a-dozen times at the AVCTL-Div. IV track meet.
The Wellington girls track team took the top spot in six events at the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail, Division IV League track meet in Augusta on Friday, May 10. Those medals helped propel the Lady-Crusader team to a runner-up finish.
The WHS league champs are no strangers to the medal stand this season.
Megan Campbell, senior, won the title in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 12.18 and 25.65. She was also on the 4x400 meter relay team that won gold, also on the 4x4 team was Holly Wright, junior, who is the new AVCTL, Div. IV High Jump Champion, Leah Nelson, sophomore, who finished first in the 400 meter run on Friday, and Cabreil Roe, sophomore, who also took home bronze in the 200 meter event.
Wright's winning jump was 5' 04'', she also took third in the 100 meter hurdles. Nelson's time in the 400 meters was 1:04.63.
Wellington's Jaedyn Ledesma, junior, also won a league championship in the 800 meter run in Augusta on Friday with a time of 2:32.70.
Andale took home the team trophey on both the women's and mean's competitions.
Other noteable WHS performances belonged to Halynn Page, junior, who took second place in girls shot put. The WHS 4x100 meter relay team of Campbell, Wright, Micah Rogers, junior, and Dietra Sober, freshmen, took silver. Sober also finished thrid in the 400 meter run.
The boys track team took sixth place overall at the league meet, but did produce a couple of top three performers.
Ian Stallbaumer, senior, took bronze in the pole vault, Austin Pfalzgraf, sophomore, took silver in the 800 meter run.
