  • Wellington's new semi-pro baseball team, the Heat, is still in need of host families for a handful of players with the season set to start in just a couple of weeks.
Most of the players will be showing up on May 26. Anyone interested in hosting a Heat player this Summer should call Shar Twyman at 928-854-4092.
"Basically all we need for them is a bed to sleep in, and a bathroom to use; they're not there much," said Heat Owner, Rick Twyman. "We play everyday at 7:05, they're at the field everyday by three o'clock, home by 11 going to bed." It's important that the host families are figured out prior to the start of the season which is at the end of this month.
The first game is May 31 at 7:05 p.m. at the newly renovated Hibbs-Hooten Field, in Sellers Park. Tickets for that game will go on sale May 27 through May 30, at the ball park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On May 29 there will be a Heat vs. The City of Wellington/Lion's Club softball game during the Lion's Club Hotdog Feed, tickets to game one will be available then too. Ticket prices are two dollars for adults, one dollar for seniors and students with an I.D., kids five and under get in free.
Every other Heat home game has been bought out, so all patrons will be able to get free tickets to those games by visiting the sponsoring business.
