WHS track athletes will be at Wichita State University's Cessna Stadium this Friday and Saturday.
Nine Wellington High School athletes will be competing at Wichita State University, May 24, and 25 for the High School State Track Meet.
Megan Campbell, senior, will get another crack at the titles in the 100 and 200 meter events. She has ran top times in the state throughout the 2013 season, and won each event at mostly every meet she's competed at. Her first race is the 200 prelim at 5:15 p.m.
Holly Wright, junior, will compete in the high jump, along with Avery Lewellen, sophomore. Wright will also be the first WHS athlete to compete on Friday, in the 100 meter hurdles preliminary event at 2:10 p.m. She has had a strong showing in the 100 meter Hurdles all season.
The next set of Lady-Crusaders out of the blocks will be at 2:55 p.m. for the 4x100 meter relay prelim, featuring Campbell, Wright, Micah Rogers, junior, and Dietra Sober, freshman.
Leah Nelson, sophomore, will run in the 400 meter prelim at 3:35 p.m.
Nelson, Campbell, Wright, and Cabriel Roe, sophomore, will race in the 4x400 meter relay, just before 6 p.m. on Friday. Rounding out the Crusader action on May 24 is Ian Stallbaumer, senior, in the Pole Vault prelim and finals at 6:30 p.m.
First thing Saturday morning is the 100 meter prelim at 8:30 a.m. with Campbell.
If Wright makes it out of prelims, she will race in the 100 meter hurdle finals at 9:30 a.m.
Halynn Page, sophomore, will throw the shot put on Saturday, the event starts at 9:45 p.m.
Potentially, the Crusaders will have a three hour gap after the shot put, before the next event. From here on out, it's all finals.
The 100 meter dash final is at 12:45 p.m., at 3 p.m. the girls 4x100 final will take place. The girls 400 meter run will be at 3:45 p.m. the 200 meter dash finale is set for 5:50 p.m. As the evening goes on, the finals for the 4x400 is at 6:30 p.m.
