Marylou Popchoke 81, of Oxford, Kansas, passed away, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Rest Haven in Winfield, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Oxford. Visitation will be held Friday, July 5 from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00P.M., at Oxford Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be private for the family. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society and many be left with Oxford Funeral Service. Marylou Brown was born on July 20, 1931 the daughter of James Alec and Nettie I. (Hartman) Brown in Okaloosa, Iowa. She was a 1951 graduate of the Oxford High School. On December 7, 1954 she was united in marriage with Donald Dean Popchoke. Marylou was a homemaker as well as a nurse's aide for many years before becoming the secretary of the Oxford First Baptist Church. Marylou enjoyed playing cards with her family as well as Bingo and loved to go fishing for catfish. Marylou had a close relationship with her savior.
Survivors include her daughter Sondra Hutchins and husband Jeff of Winfield; sons, Bob Popchoke of Oxford, Randy Popchoke and wife Mary of Olathe, KS and Jay Popchoke of Oxford, sister Phyllis Shoffner of Braman, OK, 8 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Donald Popchoke and brother, Bobby Brown.
