  • Kansas Governor, Sam Brownback was in Wellington for the Kansas Wheat Festival's KWLS Ag Day event on Friday, July 12. The Governor spoke for just over 30 minutes at Memorial Auditorium, touching on a variety of topics. He addressed Kansas' wheat production, taxes, energy and more during his time at Ag day.
After answering a few questions from the audience, Brownback told The Wellington Daily News just how significant it is for Sumner County, and Kansas to be one of the biggest wheat producers on the planet.
"I think it gets too common to us," he said. "This is one of the great crops of the world, and feeds more people than maybe any other crop in the world; and you're in the wheat county, in the wheat state."
The Wellington Daily News will have more about Governor Brownback's Ag Day speech in the near future.
