Scripture:   James (NIV) 2:17 …faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead.

2:19  You believe that there is one God.  Good!  Even the demons believe that—and shudder

20  You foolish person do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?

(21-25:  examples of Abraham and Rahab)

2:26  As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Observation:  Some people play God for a fool.  They say they believe in Him, but live their lives as if He is unimportant.   If faith is not strong enough to affect our actions then it is dead and not strong enough to save us.

Application:  Sometimes I want God to have authority over sickness, and over people who oppose me, and over circumstances I cannot control, BUT I do not submit to His authority over ME.  Duh!  The proof of my belief that God has authority over these areas around me is found in my submission to His authority over me.  My faith can be seen in my actions.

Prayer:   Lord, today I want my faith to make a difference in some specific thing that I do.  Amen
