Margie Lee Goodman, of Argonia, Kansas

Margie Lee Goodman, of Argonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 with her husband and son by her side. She was 82 years old.

Margie was born the daughter of Oscar and Francis (Beckwith) Rhamy on Tuesday, November 11, 1930 in Conway Springs, Kansas.

On June 8, 1948, Margie and John E. Goodman were united in marriage in the yard of her parents in Argonia, Kansas. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage together.

Margie was deeply involved in her community for all her life. She was a secretary at the Muhlenbruch Agency and retired after 58 years of employment. Margie served as the church treasurer at the Plains Church for over 50 years. She also served as chairman for the annual American Heart Association basketball fundraiser for 40 years. Margie helped her community as a volunteer EMT for 29 years. She was called on to make many wedding cakes over the years as she was known to be an excellent cake decorator. Her friends at the rest home in Anthony knew her as the "cookie lady" for faithfully delivering homemade cookies every other Sunday. Margie leaves a wonderful legacy of service to her community, friends and family.

Survivors include husband, John E. Goodman of Argonia, Kansas, son, Jerry Goodman of Argonia, Kansas, sister, Ruby Lewis of Lyndon, Kansas, sister, Roberta Shumate and her husband John of Newton, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Rosella Baker and Marcella Voltz.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013 with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Graveside funeral services for Margie will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Argonia Cemetery in Argonia, Kansas. Pastors Charlie Jenkins and Pastor Kirk Taylor will officiate.
