  • A FLOOD WATCH is currently in effect for an area that includes Butler County and will remain in effect through Tuesday evening.
The potential for showers with heavy rainfall will continue through mid-morning Monday and then return Monday evening and overnight. The greatest likelihood for these heavy rains will fall along and south of a Great Bend-to-McPherson-to-Cottonwood Falls line.
Additionally, severe storms could develop late afternoon/evening which would bring the threat for golf ball sized hail and damaging winds to 70 mph.
The Storm Prediction Center has identified a Slight Risk area for severe weather that runs along the Kansas-Oklahoma border and currently includes the southern half of our county.  Looking ahead, showers and thunderstorms with the potential for locally heavy rainfall will be possible across South Central Kansas through Tuesday evening.
After that we are forecast to dry out, with no additional precipitation currently in our forecast through at least Sunday.
