Bruce Springsteen
The writers of this blog are not music critics, and they don't consider a second (or third, fourth or fifth) mortgage to be a perfectly reasonable course of action to pay for front-row tickets, but despite being a whole lot more middle aged than they were when they first put \x34Born in the U.S.A.\x34 or \x34The River\x34 down on the turntable, still feels like Bruce has something -- OK, a lot of things -- to say about our country and the way we live our lives, things that not a lot of other artists are saying. And whether he's talking about the knife that can cut this pain from your heart, the house that's waiting for you to walk in or what that flag flying over the courthouse means, he's nailing down feelings that are so universal that they can raise your spirits and break your heart at the same time. Plus, let¹s face it, the man rocks.

Thank you 10/10/13

This afternoon brought the surprise of a thank you letter posted on BruceSpringsteen.net and signed by Bruce Springsteen:

As our Wrecking Ball tour comes to it’s lose, the E Street Band and I want to thank our friends and fans for the love and support we’ve received over the past year and a half.

To all the tramps and travelers who exposed themselves night after night to the long flights, the long drives, the long queuing, the rain, the sleeplessness in order to inspire and fuel us from band center, we appreciate it. To the very “creative” request sign makers, to the families who showed up all generations represented, to our young fans, the newest members of our E Street clan who brought their life, vitality, fresh energy and who immersed themselves in 40 years of music, we thank and welcome you. You’re our future. To our long time fans, whose passion and commitment have sustained us for so many years, you’ve once again filled this time with a continuity and deep feeling we’ll remember and carry with use. To those of you who’ve joined us onstage dancing, singing, playing the guitar (and washboard!), thanks for the momentarily being honorary members in what I still think is the greatest band in the land. You brought us some smiles and handled yourselves with grace and good humor. Finally, to all of you who were there along the way, we send out our mightiest and most heartfelt thanks. You have reignited in us a great passion for what we do. We’ll do our best to honor it.

So, until we meet again, stay hard… and we’ll see you up the road.

Best,

Bruce Springsteen

And along with the thank you came an official video with highlights from the tour edited by Thom Zimny set to a new recording of “Dream Baby Dream” mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

Thank you Bruce and the E Street Band!
