  • Betty Lou Marie Gage, 83 of Canton, died Oct. 7, 2013, at her home in Canton.

  • Betty Lou Marie Gage, 83 of Canton, died Oct. 7, 2013, at her home in Canton. She was former editor of the Canton Pilot and a homemaker and was a resident of Canton most of life.  Betty Lou was a member of the Canton United Methodist Church and the McPherson County Humane Society.
    She was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Newton, the daughter of F. Miles and Nettie B. (Schmidt) Hackler. She married Jack LaDuke in 1944.  He preceded her in death. She married Cecil E. “Dick” Gage in January 1953 and he survives.
    Other survivors include a son, Dick E. “Richard” Gage, Canton; a daughter, Jackie Tucker, Camarillo, Calif.; step son, Cecil Gage, McPherson; two grandchildren, Scott Wisman Tucker, Michigan and Anna Tucker-White and her husband James of Los Angeles; one great-granddaughter, Amaya Marie White and a cousin, Douglas Loewen, Canton. Two sons, Randall LaDuke and Lance Gage preceded her in death.
    Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013. at Olson’s Mortuary, Canton. Interment will be in Canton Township Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
    A memorial has been established with the McPherson County Humane Society, in care of the mortuary.
