Before Wes Craven unleashed Freddy Krueger upon the world he

gave us the story of vengeful amish/Mennonites in the super creepy, super

shocking, Deadly Blessing.  Ernest

Borgnine is worth the price alone. <>

Deadly Blessing

The Film:<>

Deadly Blessing isnít as gory as some of Cravenís other

works.  It plays more like a paranoia

thriller with horror elements than a straight up horror.  Thatís not to say it isnít scary because it

does pack some great scares and genuine creep-outs.  Not to mention the insane ending.<>

The story, the cast, the directing are all top notch.  Iíd never heard of the movie (shameful being

as that Iím a big Craven fan) and I was super excited to see it.  My excitement was rewarded as the movie is

great and Ernest Borgnine turns in a wonderfully evil performance.<>

The Disc:

Scream Factory has delivered yet another wonderful

transfer.   The picture is really

gorgeous.  It sounds great.  The effects look great and it really holds up

well.  The country side and settings all

really look great with this transfer.<>

Final Grades:

Story:  A / Super

unique and super fun watch.  One of

Cravenís best.

Presentation: A / Gorgeous transfer makes Deadly Blessing

look brand new.

Scare Factor: A / Super creepy and a jaw dropping ending

that is excellent even by todayís standards.

Gore Factor:  B /

Light on the gore, but that does not detract from the film in the least.

Repeat view-ability:

A / One of Cravenís best has a great place in anyoneís horror marathon

nights.
