The Wellington High School doubles tennis team of Kelsey Whaley and Peyton Adams were 1-2 at the state tennis tournament in Topeka over the weekend.

The Wellington High School doubles tennis team of Kelsey Whaley and Peyton Adams were 1-2 at the state tennis tournament in Topeka over the weekend.

The tournament started Saturday after a one - day rain delay, and finished up Sunday.

The two had a first round bye, and lost their first match to a team from Independence 6-1, 6-0. Whaley and Adams rebounded to beat a team from Chaparral, and then lost to a team from Parsons.

The week before the two had finished second at the regional held in Wellington.
