Scripture:   Job (NIV) 16:19  Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on  high.
20  My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God;
21   on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.

Observation:    In his suffering, Job was having trouble getting through to God.  He needed an advocate.  He needed someone to go to God on his behalf, to represent him before God.  He needed an intercessor.  He needed an intercessor who would plead for him passionately because he was Job’s friend.

Application:    In Jesus I have what Job needed!   What a thought!  Jesus pleads with God on my behalf, not because it is expected, nor because he is bound to do so, but he does it as my friend!  He does so with the love of a friend. He does so with the desperation a friend would have for his friend in trouble.  I am His friend!  He knows my name.  It is amazing!

Prayer:   Lord, what an amazing thing it is to be loved by you!   Amen
