Caldwell won its first match of the day in Division 1, beating La Crosse 25-19, 26-24.
Goessel then beat Caldwell 20-25, 25-7, 25-22. Spearville beat Caldwell 25-14, 25-22.
Spearville won three matches and Goessel won two, and both will advance to the semifinals Saturday. Hoxie and Centralia advance from the other side of the bracket in Division 1.
It is not that clear in Division 2, where Argonia is playing.
Argonia lost its first match to Logan 25-20, 25-19. Argonia then beat Attica 25-15, 25-19.
In the final match of the evening, Argonia def. Wallace County 25-18, 25-15.
Logan now has three wins after beating Attica in a late game. Argonia has two wins in pool play, and both advance.
In the other side of the bracket, defending champion Baileyville also advanced.
Semifinal matches begin at 2 p.m., with finals 15 minutes after those matches are completed.
