$1,000 scholarship available for a woman financially supporting a dependent while attending college or a vocational/skills program.

Soroptimist International El Dorado is seeking applicants for its annual Women's Opportunity Award (WOA).

The recipient will receive a cash grant that she can use for tuition, books, childcare, groceries, and other costs associated with her efforts to attain higher education to improve her earning power..

Applicants must be women who: are the primary financial support for a household, have at least one dependent, and are enrolled in or have been accepted to an undergraduate college program or vocational/skills training program. Preference is given to applicants living or attending school in El Dorado.

This year's award from the El Dorado club is $1,000. The award recipient also advances to the Soroptimist South Central Region to complete for additional scholarship opportunities. Grant recipients from Soroptimist's 28 geographic regions are then eligible for one of three $10,000 finalist awards.

WOA applications are available from Sharon Mangels at slmangels@sbcglobal.net or from any Soroptimist. Applications must be received by Soroptimist International El Dorado by December 15.
