The Bethany College women's soccer team finished second in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with an 8-1 record, earning a first-round playoff bye in the KCAC Poststeason Tournament.
The Swedes' only KCAC loss came on October 19 in a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to regular season conference champion Kansas Wesleyan University.
With their second place finish, Bethany earned a first round playoff bye.
The Swedes travel to Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, Kan. on Nov. 15. Bethany, the number two seed, will face the winner of Ottawa University and Sterling College, who play at Ottawa on Saturday.
Previously this season, the Swedes defeated Ottawa University 2-1 on Oct. 5, backed by goals from senior Tessa Kuhlengel and freshman Sarah Henderson.
Bethany also beat Sterling College 2-1 in overtime on Oct. 12. Sophomore Sarah Davisscored in regulation, and Kuhlengel netted the game winner just 12 seconds into overtime.
The Swedes are currently 10-6 overall.
The men, meanwhile, finished fourth in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 4-2-3 record.
The Swedes host fifth-ranked Ottawa University on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in first round playoff action.
The admissions charge for the game is: $10 for adults, $6 for seniors, $6 for faculty and staff, $4 for students, and five-and-under free.
Bethany and Ottawa tangled on Oct. 5, and ended in a 1-1 tie after double overtime. Senior Lewis Collins scored for the Swedes.
The winner of Friday night's contest will advance to the second round of the KCAC Tournament at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka Nov. 15-16, and will face number one seed Kansas Wesleyan University.
The Swedes are 8-4-4 overall.
