It seems to me that the safest bet in pro football these days is that the Washington team in the NFL eventually will get rid of its Redskins nickname. It may not happen for another year or two, but the smart money says† it’s inevitable. Meanwhile, defenders of the nickname should ponder certain aspects of the team’s past.
