  • South Haven’s school building has a new look and is all but complete. Heat and air units were replaced, as well as a lot of windows, which should make it more energy efficient as well.
An open house was held last week to let the public see the work that has been done.
Superintendent John Showman said the entire project cost around $500,000, and was financed through bonds in a federal program that gives the school a very low interest rate.
He said there is just a little painting left to complete the project.
The wing of the school where improvements were made was built in 1955.
The school now has fewer windows, and the windows are more modern.
While there will be fewer windows in the classrooms, there will be additional wall space available, and the classrooms will be more energy efficient.
Heating and air units were replaced in the technology wing and junior high locker rooms. The units in the elementary wing were also replaced.
