John Harvard’s adds guest taps, bottles

When I go to a brewpub, Iím usually looking forward to trying the beers they have on tap.
But, every once in awhile, I run into a situation that the particular beers they are pouring arenít what Iím in the mood for. Iím usually left just grabbing a beer Iím not excited about.
Now, John Harvardís Brewery & Ale House in Framingham is making sure beer drinkers have as many options available, adding two guest taps to the 10 house beers that are always on.†logo
ďPeople today want choice and the craft beer movement has never been stronger,Ē John Harvardís General Manager Bob Scott said. ďUnfortunately we are at full brewing capacity on site so it came down to contract brewing or adding outside brewers to our offerings. We decided to focus on finding smaller craft brewers that may not have wide distribution. We know our customers and they love craft beer. They love our beer and they will be very excited to come in and try something that they cannot easily get at the store or at other pubs.Ē
Head brewery R. J. Shultz is in charge of picking the beers, and he said he worked to choose beers that compliment the beers he will have on tap.
The first guest brewery will be Jackís Abby Brewing of Framingham.
There will also be several bottles from guest breweries available. Currently, the bottle selection is Allagash Brewing Company Four, White Birch Brewingís Saison and Tavern Ale; Maine Beer Companyís Zoe and Rock Art Breweryís Vermonster.
Overall, I think this is a good idea. Whenever you can give your consumer the widest range of choices is a good thing.
