The Salvation Army of Sumner County needs donations, and bell ringers, to reach its goal of $16,000 in this year's Red Kettle campaign.
As of Wednesday, Dec. 11, they have received $6,500 toward our goal of $16,000. The Red Kettle campaign lasts through Dec. 23.
The money will provide bill-paying assistance to the growing number of Wellington and Sumner County family with financial needs during the coming year.
Last year the Salvation Army distributed $17,500 out of these funds raised through the Red Kettles placed at Walmart and Dillons, and another $6,500 through our local Wellington Ministerial Alliance, for total distributions of $24,000 in Wellington and Sumner County in 2013.
Bell ringers are also needed, two at Walmart and one at Dillons.
There are four 2-hour shifts each day between 11a.m. and 7p.m. Anyone wishing to ring the bell for an hour or two may call Bob Nickel at 620-399-3950, or the secretary at the First United Methodist Church at 620-326-7403.
