  • Wellington high school has busy weekend with hoops and wrestling

  • Wellington at the Kingman basketball tournament. Boys were second and girls were third. Wellington wrestlers seventh in own tournament.

  • It was a busy weekend for Wellington high school teams.
    The Wellington boys basketball team finished second and the girls were third at the Kingman tournament. Both teams went 2-1 there.
    In the championship game, the boys lost to Kingman 77-49. Trevor Nance scored 16 and Connor Phelps had 13 for Wellington.
    In the girls’ game, Wellington overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat Kingman 45-42.  Carlie McComb led Wellington with 11. Mireia Salvador  and Lauryn Snipes each scored nine.
    At the wrestling meet, Wellington finished seventh out of 15 teams. Tyson Hodson won his weight class at 285. Taylor Lampkin was second at 195. Ben Dejarnett was third at 152. Dalton Holt (220), Chance Hain (170) and Andrew Horn (132) each placed fourth.
