Doris Jean Dwyer, age 81, loving, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away December 31, 2013 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS. She was a homemaker and worked for many years at Gambrill Hardware Store.
Doris Jean (Armstrong) Dwyer was born on March 8, 1932 in Wellington, KS to George Albert Armstrong and Gladys Jean (Brown) Armstrong.
Doris married Leo Henry Dwyer on March 31, 1949 in Wichita, KS. They had celebrated 34 years of marriage before Leo passed away on July 16, 1983.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She served on the board and volunteered at the Chisholm Trail Museum for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; son, Tom Dwyer; and granddaughter, Jodie Nylander.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Dwyer and his wife April of Wellington, KS and Tim Dwyer and his wife Tyra of Wellington, KS; two daughters, Dino Nylander and her husband Peter of Wilsonville, OR; and Kathy Niblack and her friend Chuck of Wichita, KS; daughter in law, Kathi Dwyer of Wellington, KS; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Memorial Graveside Services will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Chaplain Don Cross will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Chisholm Trail Museum. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
